Jobs in the field of Gynecology

Gynecological oncology focuses on providing assistance for women who have cancer. Professionals in this subspecialty can diagnose cancer on the reproductive organs. Reproductive endocrinology and infertility is mainly concern on infertility issues, as its name suggest.  Reproductive and fetal medicine focuses on women who have pregnancy complications. The professional in this field diagnoses as well as assists in this difficult phase of the woman"s life.   Hospital and palliative medicine offers utmost care for terminally ill women.  Professionals lessen the pain and ensure that the patients are well taken care and comfortable as they finally descend into the last days of their lives.

In summary there are several subspecialties in the field of gynecology namely gynecological oncology, Reproductive endocrinology and infertility, Reproductive and fetal medicine Hospital and palliative medicine. Accredited Council of Graduate Medical Education and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology only recognizes the Reproductive endocrinology and infertility, Gynecological oncology, Advanced laparoscopic surgery and Reproductive endocrinology and infertility as the subspecialties in gynecological field. Compared to registered nursing jobs, professionals in these subspecialties also need to pass a certain test.

There are ob gyn jobs which are not based on subspecialties. You can be a sonographer, labor coach, nurse-midwife, and general health care provider. One of the radiology jobs is operating the sonography equipment, and supplying insight for other health care providers. This is an integral component in the medical profession. The images obtained by the sonographer provide insights into current health of the baby. The labor coach job is mainly concern on assisting the delivery of pregnant women through natural methods. Unlike the registered nurse jobs, professionals in this job do not have to pass any test.  The nurse-midwife job involves assistance in childbirth process, and pre and post pregnancy care of women.  General health care providers are mainly concern on daily checkups of women and pap smears.

The salary of professionals in the field of Gynecology ranges from $ 199.350.00 annual salary, to $300,000.  Professionals assigned in hospitals earn more. Various gynecology jobs offer good salary, as services related to reproductive and health care of women are constantly sought. Though one of arduous jobs in the medical profession, nevertheless rewards incurred in this field are worth all the sweat and long irregular hours.
