Recruiting for College Football: Offense and Defense

In a football match there is an offensive and defensive team.  The offensive team has possession of the ball, and thus is able to score, while the defensive team needs to prevent the offense from bringing the ball into the end zone. Teams change their roles from offense to defense after a certain amount of plays to give both a fair opportunity to score. The offense or defense is decided before the start of the by a coin toss.  The visiting team is awarded the chance to call the coin toss.

A team generally scores points only when it is at the offense.  The task of the offensive team is to make their way into the other teamð€™s territory and bring the ball to the endzone.  There are two ways to advance the ball through the field: by holding the ball and running with it, and by passing the ball to a teammate who, after receiving the ball, runs with it until he reaches the endzone.

The defensive team, on the other hand, is tasked to prevent the offense from scoring. They thwart the advances of the offensive players by stopping their attempts at scoring. Defensive players guard the offensive players, often tackling the one whoever is holding the ball.  The defense should try their best to keep the ball from moving forward at all. And, by tackling the ball-carrier, the defense can even move the offense"s ball backward to where the ball started at the beginning of the play.  Sometimes the defense manages to tackle the quarterback with the ball back to the line of scrimmage. This is known as a quarterback sack or a sack.

Students who want to succeed in football recruiting need to know more than the basics in football. They need to explore the various college campuses that are participating in college recruiting, and students need to determine which courses and offers are the best for them.

The Internet has proven to be an important and indispensable venue for both athletes and coaches in the college recruiting process. There are many websites and online forums wherein students and scouts can come together and interact during football recruiting. D1Athletes is an online community wherein athletes and coaches alike can share and exchange information they need. D1Athletes offers them a place to build an online presence and gain important public exposure.
